DESCRIPTION:Speaker Series: "The Sacred Pipestone Quarries"\n\nThe Pipestone County Historical Society will be hosting a speaker series on the Pipestone Quarries.  All presentations will be held at the Historic St. Paul Episcopal Church parish hall (221 4th St. SE) in Pipestone. Presentations begin at 10:00 a.m.  Admission will be $5.00 per person with proceeds to benefit both the Pipestone County Historical Society and Historic Pipestone\, Inc.  Dates and topics to be presented include:\n\n	April 17th: Travis Erickson\, local quarrier\, carver and demonstrator\, will discuss the significance of the Pipestone quarries to the Native American culture.\n	May 1st: Trava Olivier\, with the Historical Society\, will share the history of the quarry site from the Treaty of 1858 to its creation as a National Monument.\n	May 15th: A ranger from the National Parks Service will discuss the site as a National Monument beginning with its creation and moving forward to today.\n\n \n\nMasks and social distancing will be required for each of these presentations.  \n\n \n\nIf you have any questions\, please call the Pipestone County Museum at (507) 825-2563 or email the Museum at pipctymu.net.
