6th Annual Drive-Thru Trunk or Treat
6th Annual Trunk or Treat Event #OnlyinPipestone! It will be different this year. It will be a DRIVE-THRU ONLY event with one family that lives in the same household per vehicle. Vehicles will come up 6th Avenue SW (turning north by Dari-King) and turn right onto Main Street and heading east. It will be a one-way only line traveling east with the trunks beginning by Liberty Pawn and Hot Spot Salon & Spa. The decorated and costumed trunk participants who are actually distributing the wrapped treats/candy will be wearing gloves and masks (of the COVID-type, not the Halloween variety due to air holes), and all participants with trunks will be screened and thermometer temperatures taken prior to the start of the event. As outlined by the MN Department of Health, anyone with a temperature at or above 100.4°F will NOT be allowed to participate in the trunks or treat distribution in order to keep people as safe as possible. We ask that attendees in vehicles please self-screen themselves and their children and please do NOT attend if you have a fever or are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19. Attendees will NOT be allowed to walk the route on Main Street; this is strictly a DRIVE-THRU ONLY event. No children or adults in vehicles will be allowed to put their hands in any of the treat bowls to minimize contact with the items. Additionally, each vehicle will need one container ready per family. Volunteers will write the number of children in the vehicle on the windshield to let the trunk participants know how many pieces to put in their bag/container. Attendees can either 1) open their trunks and treats can be put in their trunk as they drive through the line-up on Main Street or 2) they can hold one container out of the vehicle and treats put inside for all children in the car. The trunk participants are not allowed to reach in the vehicles. We still encourage youth and family to dress up for the event! If you are business or non-profit interested in participating in the event, please contact the Pipestone Area Chamber of Commerce at 507-825-3316, email erica.pipestonechamber@gmail.com, or call our Executive Director Erica Volkir at 507-236-4751. We will have a registration form that will be required to sign this year so we can adequately plan and space participants and ensure that new procedures have been communicated. Deadline to register as a trunk or Downtown business will be Wednesday, October 21, 2020 by 5pm.
