Living History Demonstrations: The Pipestone County Historical Society invites you to join us as Rodger Olivier, local sheep shearer, talks about the history and tools of the sheep shearing trade and performs a live demonstration of the craft. Following Rodger?s presentation, local artisan Laurel Berg will discuss and demonstrate the craft of spinning wool into yarn. These demonstrations will be held Saturday, September 11th at 1:30 p.m. at Moore Park on North Hiawatha Avenue in Pipestone. The Park offers limited seating, please bring a chair or blanket. Minnesota Association of Community Theatres (MACT) announces that MACT*Fest 2021 will take place in Pipestone, Minnesota. New dates for the festival are September 17th through 19th. Calumet Players and Pipestone Performing Arts Center will host the festival, where audiences will enjoy a wide variety of one-act plays performed by theatres from across Minnesota, and have the opportunity to attend theatre workshops on topics relevant to actors, directors, technical crews and all fans of community theatre. Join us for a national day of service and volunteerism at Pipestone National Monument. Protecting the tallgrass prairie is a constant battle at Pipestone National Monument as non-native plants take every opportunity to get their roots in the dirt. Come out to the park on Saturday, September 26th, from 9:00 am - 11:00 am and help the park?s staff collect native prairie seed that we will replant in the spring. No prior experience is required; we'll show you what to do! Volunteers should meet at the Visitor Center at 8:45 am. Volunteers receive a complimentary lunch at 11:00 am along with a custom volunteer shirt (we have a limited supply, so please RSVP at (507) 825-5464 ext. 214)! Volunteers are advised to dress for the outdoors, wear sturdy shoes for walking in the prairie. National Public Lands Day is the nation's largest single-day volunteer effort for public lands. Seven federal agencies as well as nonprofit organizations and state, regional, and local governments participate in the annual day of improving the health of public lands and encouraging shared stewardship through volunteer service.

Visitors may grab a cup of cider or hot cocoa from the visitor center and make their way around the trail at their leisure, taking in the sights and sounds. For this one hour, the prairie will be filled with the artistic expressions of the many peoples who have called the pipestone quarries home for centuries. This event is free, self-guided, and open to the public.

Monday, October 18th & Monday, October 25th Leaves need to be raked into the gutter by 5AM on pickup day. * Leaves should be raked into the street one foot away from the gutter no earlier than the weekend immediately prior to the first day of pickup. * Please DO NOT park vehicles on the street until clean. * Keep leaf piles away from parked vehicles as well as garbage and recycling totes. * LEAVES ONLY!! Brush, branches, shrub pruning, rocks, and metal will NOT be picked up. * DO NOT put leaves in bags as they will NOT be picked up. * Keep piles away from sewer grates and street storm drains. The city will only come by one time per week starting on the WEST side of town and working towards the EAST side of town. Schedule may change due to weather.

The Catholic Daughters are holding their annual Pillow Cleaning fundraiser on the east side of St. Leo's Catholic Church from 7 am - 3 pm on Thursday, October 28, 2021.
