Carol Scotting Receives 2022 Community Pride Award from First State Bank Southwest

Congratulations to Carol Scotting who was presented with the 2022 Community Pride Award from First State Bank Southwest! The award is given to “recognize someone who has made a positive impact on our community by contributing time, talent, financial support, and leadership to Pipestone and its citizens.” The honor also includes a $1,000 donation from First State Bank Southwest to the nonprofit organization of Carol’s choice. It was an easy decision for Carol in selecting Pipestone County 4-H as the recipient of the funds to go toward their 4-H Scholarship Program for high school seniors to further their education in any field.
Carol recently retired in November 2021 after 38 1/2 years of service to our local 4-H program ran through the University of Minnesota Extension Office. She has also served in a number of other volunteer roles in the community for various organizations including our Pipestone Area Chamber of Commerce’s Ag Committee and its Annual Youth Ribbon Auction held during the Pipestone County Fair. A lifelong member of 4-H herself, Carol’s children and grandchildren have participated in 4-H as well. In 2017, she and her family were inducted into the Pipestone County 4-H Hall of Fame. Carol said at the reception, “Thank you. I’m humbled to receive this honor and I want to continue to make the best in our community better” — which happens to be the 4-H motto.

We thank Carol for her dedication and countless hours of service to our community. And, we look forward to continuing to work with her during her retirement on various projects and through our Chamber’s Ag Committee. Thank you to everyone who took the time to come out and celebrate with Carol and her family. An incredibly well-deserved honor from First State Bank Southwest #OnlyinPipestone!
