Annual Hospice Benefit
Enjoy an evening of great food and fellowship for a great cause! The benefit is at the Pipestone Country Club on Friday, April 5. The social hour begins at 5:30 pm, and dinner is served at 6 pm. There will be four-course meal, live auction, raffle, and a silent auction. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased at the PCMC Gift Shop, Hospice House, or the PCMC Business Office. Historic Pipestone Inc. (HPI) holds their monthly used book sale fundraiser on the first Saturday of each month from 9:00 am - approximately Noon. The sale features books in both hardcover and paperback, ranging over a variety of subjects in both fiction and nonfiction. All such books are donated by members of the community.

Calumet Players Auditions for Addams Family The Calumet Players are excited to announce that The Addams Family: The Musical Comedy will be presented this summer with special permission from Theatrical Rights Worldwide. The show will be stage directed by Sylvia Newell of Lake Benton, assistant directed by Wendy Van Gelder of Edgerton, and musically directed by Bonnie Folkerts of Jasper. Traci Nissen of Pipestone will be the stage manager. Auditions will be held at the Pipestone Performing Arts Center located on Main Street, Sunday, April 14 and Monday, April 15 from 6:00 ? 8:00 pm both evenings. Audition materials are available prior to auditions at Meinders Community Library. While roles are primarily for adults, males and females entering 2nd grade or older may audition. Performances will be the last two weekends of June. Show times are as follows: June 20, 21, 22 and June 27, 28, 29 at 7:30. Show times for the two Sunday performances June 23 and June 30 will be 2:00 pm matinees.

Rock & Roll Round Table
The upcoming Rock and Roll Round Table scheduled for April 20th is proving to be an event with wide interest! (Was there ever any doubt?) We have made the decision to move the venue to the sanctuary of the Historic St. Paul Episcopal Church located at 221 4th Street SE in Pipestone. This will comfortably seat at least double the guests than we can host at the Museum in our programming space.

Deserted Wives and Homesteading Rights
Join the Pipestone County Museum as Hannah Haksgaard, author, and Professor of Law, looks at the Homestead Act of 1862 and how it dealt with a specific group of women; deserted wives. These were the women who came west to homestead with their husbands, but found themselves, the marriage, and the homestead abandoned. The legal rights of deserted wives were unclear under the Homestead Act. This program will cover how these women successfully made legal and factual arguments to gain ownership of homesteads.

Ladies Tea Luncheon
THE PIPESTONE COUNTY HSITORICAL SOCIETY TO HOST FUNDRAISER TO CONTINUE RENOVATION WORK ON THE FERRIS GRAND BUILDING The Pipestone County Historical Society will host a Ladies Tea Luncheon on Saturday, May 11, at 11:00 a.m. in the masonic lodge room of the Ferris Grand building. The Ferris Grand is located at 106 East Main Street in Pipestone, the event is on the second floor. A light luncheon of finger sandwiches and sweet treats will be served along with traditional tea and punch. Kevin Gansz, Curator of Education at the Siouxland Heritage Museums, will give a presentation on the history of tea and tea drinking, different types of tea, and some of the health benefits. He will discuss some of the Victorian etiquette behind tea drinking and show some of the different types of tea and serving pieces. Annual Avenues of Flags Notice: Flags will be set at the following locations: Downtown Courthouse Cemetery Highway 30 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: 10-16 People will be needed for setup & tear down. Those interested should meet at the Pipestone True Value parking lot at 7:00 am on Memorial Day, May 27th. Tear down begins at the Pipestone True Value parking lot by 5:00 pm (they usually get started a little earlier). The Avenue of Flags is supported by the Pipestone American Legion Post 6 and made possible through volunteers and donations.
