Exhibit Open: History of American Flag
The Pipestone County Museum in partnership with Pipestone Area Schools is excited to host a traveling exhibit dedicated to the history and significance of the American flag, as part of the nation?s 250th anniversary celebrations. This exhibit will include numerous topics including the anatomy of the flag, famous flags, the evolution of the flag, and other fascinating aspects of the flag.

"Written in Stone" Cemetery Tours
The Pipestone County Historical Society will be hosting a series of cemetery walking tours throughout the summer of 2026. Tours will be held on the second Saturday of each month, June through September. All tours will begin at 2:00 p.m. and each tour will include stories of Pipestone County pioneers, Pipestone County veterans, and the meaning behind the symbolism found on some of the gravestones. The cost of each tour is $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for members of the Historical Society, and free for children 12 and under. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Pipestone County Museum or at the Cemetery on the day of the event.

Al Opland Singers Open House
The Open House is designed specifically to give prospective singers an opportunity to learn more about the group and see what being an Al Opland Singer is all about. Whether you have sung with a choir for years or simply enjoy singing and are looking for a fun group to join, this is an opportunity to come check it out. The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. upstairs in the Performing Arts Center lobby. Prospective singers can meet current members and directors, ask questions, learn more about the group and enjoy light refreshments. At 7 p.m., the singers will head downstairs for a light rehearsal. Interested individuals are encouraged to sit in on the rehearsal and experience the group firsthand—no commitment required.

CANCELLED: National Public Lands Day - Native Seed Collection
Calling all volunteers: Pipestone National Monument Needs Your Help on National Public Lands Day! On Saturday, September 26th, volunteers can get out in the tallgrass prairie with park rangers from 9:00am ? 12:00pm to help take care of this important cultural site! Volunteers can choose between collecting native seeds that we will replant next year or removing invasive species that crowd out the native plants. No experience needed ? we?ll provide the tools and training. Just bring sturdy shoes and dress in layers for the weather. We will have gloves available, but feel free to bring your own as well. Volunteers will receive a complimentary lunch at 11:30am.

"The American Flag, History, Symbolism, & Meaning" by Dr. Anita Gaul
The Pipestone County Historical Society, in collaboration with Pipestone Area Schools, and community partner, the Pipestone Performing Arts Center invites the public to join us for a FREE presentation about the history of the American flag presented by Dr. Anita Gual who is a history professor at Minnesota West Community and Technical. The presentation will take place on Thursday, October 1st beginning at 7:00 pm at the Pipestone Performing Arts Center. The presentation is being hosted in conjunction with the traveling exhibit ?Symbol of Freedom,? that is being hosted for public viewing at the Pipestone County Museum in September and October to celebrate our Nation?s 250th anniversary. Both the exhibit and this presentation are possible through a Better Together grant funded by Prairielands Library Exchange. The Museum is located at 113 S. Hiawatha Avenue in Pipestone. The biennial Pipestone Jaycees' Haunted House is back! Open from 7 pm to 11 pm on Friday & Saturday, October 30th & 31st at the Pipestone County Fairgrounds.

A place to come to purchase fresh, local produce, homemade goods (breads, jams, baked goods), and support your community! Our farmers market is a proud member of the Pipestone Area Chamber of Commerce and a program of Pipestone Active Living.
