Water Tower Festival
***2021 Dates: Thursday, July 29 - Sunday, August 1, 2021*** Annually, we celebrate the Water Tower Festival. Residents and visitors turn out en masse for this community get together. The festival commemorates the restoration of the city's historic concrete water tower as a community landmark.
Pipestone County Fair
Our old-fashioned county fair is annually a top event in the county. Bring your kids to the children's barn to see and pet baby animals! Bring your appetite for steak night, rib night, and Dar's Pizza night! 4-H, FFA, and open class exhibitors share livestock, exhibits, and art with the public. There will be a midway featuring rides and games, displays and booths, as well as food and fun!

Historical Society "Coffee Talk"
Museum to begin Thursday morning ?Coffee Talks? The Pipestone County Historical Society is replacing the former ?Brown Bag Lunch Series? with Thursday morning ?Coffee Talks? beginning in August 2021. These talks will be FREE to the public. The community is invited to join us at the Pipestone County Museum at 9:45 a.m. on the third Thursday of each month for coffee followed by a presentation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The August presentation will be Thursday, August 19th. Museum Educator, Trava Olivier, will be sharing information on some of the early bank robberies that occurred in various communities within Pipestone County.

How to Clean Gravestones
The Pipestone County Historical Society is excited to announce an upcoming programming opportunity. Steve Sittig, with the Dell Rapids Cemetery Board has been cleaning gravestones for 4 years using a product that is used at Arlington National Cemetery. He has agree to come to Old Woodlawn Cemetery in Pipestone and share his knowledge and give a demonstration. This event will be capped at 15 participants per Steve?s request. He wants everyone who attends to be able to see, hear and learn about the process. Due to this, preregistration is REQUIRED and payment must be received at the time of registration. All sales will be final.

5:00 - 7:30 PM (Location - Dahl Motors, 950 7th St SE - US Hwy 75 & MN Hwy 30): Car Cruise-In. Food Truck will be present serving Mexican food, Hamburgers, and Walking Tacos! The Cruise-In begins at 5 PM, and the Pipestone Cruizers will lead a Cruise Around The Square at 7:30 PM. Bring your car, truck, or motorcycle to this free event. Food will be available for purchase.

All proceeds from this fundraiser go to the Pipestone Area Band Parents Association to support youth band activities. At 7:00 p.m. the Marching Arrows, under the direction of Alex Kisecker, will take the field to preview their 2021 Field Show Under Construction. This will be the first public performance of the show and the first opportunity for the band to debut their new uniforms.

"Symbolism in the Cemetery" Walking Tour
Have you ever wondered about the old headstones in a cemetery? From urns to columns, to tree stumps and more, each carving is a symbol meant to tell the story of the life of the individual buried beneath. Trava Olivier, Museum Educator for the Pipestone County Historical Society, will guide participants through the Ruthton Cemetery while stopping at various graves to share the meaning of the symbols on the stones featured. Sheep Shearing & Wool Spinning Demonstration
Living History Demonstrations: The Pipestone County Historical Society invites you to join us as Rodger Olivier, local sheep shearer, talks about the history and tools of the sheep shearing trade and performs a live demonstration of the craft. Following Rodger?s presentation, local artisan Laurel Berg will discuss and demonstrate the craft of spinning wool into yarn. These demonstrations will be held Saturday, September 11th at 1:30 p.m. at Moore Park on North Hiawatha Avenue in Pipestone. The Park offers limited seating, please bring a chair or blanket. The cost to attend this event is $5.00 for adults; children 12 and under are free. The Museum is located at 113 S. Hiawatha Ave. in Pipestone. MACT*Fest 2021 hosted by Calumet Players
Minnesota Association of Community Theatres (MACT) announces that MACT*Fest 2021 will take place in Pipestone, Minnesota. New dates for the festival are September 17th through 19th. Calumet Players and Pipestone Performing Arts Center will host the festival, where audiences will enjoy a wide variety of one-act plays performed by theatres from across Minnesota, and have the opportunity to attend theatre workshops on topics relevant to actors, directors, technical crews and all fans of community theatre. Information about the festival will be posted on the MACT website including additional details regarding the festival, including how to purchase tickets.

Pipestone Fire Department Pancake Feed & Open House
Come join us Sunday, September 19th for our pancake feed and open house! From 8 am - 1 pm, our guys will be whipping up some delicious pancakes, eggs, sausage, and bacon. We will have coffee, juice, milk, and pop. There will be a car extrication and a stove fire demonstration. The Pipestone County Museum will be holding a fall donation rummage on Tuesday, September 28 from 5-7 p.m. and Wednesday, September 29th from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Community members may drop off good usable rummage items at the American Legion Hall on Tuesday the 28th from 10 a.m. ? 2 p.m. No electronics will be accepted.
