About Us

Historic Pipestone Inc. (HPI) is 501(c)(3) a recognized non-profit charitable group working independently to renovate significant historic buildings and search out new uses so that they are preserved for the future. We seek funds for our work through a variety of ways: donations, grants, monthly used book sales, a Christmas Home Tour, food stand sales, and a wine tasting event. We also receive funds from United Way. We are local citizen volunteers and would welcome your help. Our current projects are the Keyes Building and the former St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. If you would like more information about how you can help contact us at Box 277-HPI, Pipestone, MN 56164 or call (507) 825-3413.

***Book Sales***
Historic Pipestone Inc. (HPI) holds their monthly used book sale fundraiser in the basement of the Brown Hospital/Keyes Building on the first Saturday of each month from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm and on the second Tuesday of June, July, & August, & September from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. The sale features books in both hardcover and paperback, ranging over a variety of subjects in both fiction and nonfiction. All such books are donated by members of the community. The Brown Hospital/Keyes Building (116 2nd Ave SW) was built in 1912 and was the community's first hospital named after Dr. Alex H. Brown. His grandson Dr. Robert Keyes later took over the practice, retiring in 1993. The Brown Hospital/Keyes Building is on the National Register of Historic Places.
