Historic Pipestone Inc. (HPI) holds their monthly used book sale fundraiser on the first Saturday of each month from 9:00 am - approximately Noon. The sale features books in both hardcover and paperback, ranging over a variety of subjects in both fiction and nonfiction. All such books are donated by members of the community.

St. Leo Cemetery Symbolism Walking Tour
The Pipestone County Historical Society will be hosting its final cemetery walking tour of the 2024 season at St. Leo?s Catholic Cemetery on Saturday, September 14th at 2:00 p.m. St. Leo?s Cemetery is located on the northwest edge of Pipestone at 656 116th street. From Dar?s Pizza follow 8th Avenue north through Pipestone and around the curve to 121st street. Take 121st street north to 116th street. Turn west on 116th street to the cemetery. This tour will focus on the meaning behind the symbols carved and etched in the gravestones. The cost of the tour is $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for members of the Historical Society, and free for children 12 and under. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Pipestone County Museum or at the Cemetery gate the day of the event

PACF Grant Submissions Open

National Public Lands Day - Volunteers Needed
Volunteers are needed at the Pipestone National Monument on National Public Lands Day, Saturday, Sept. 28.Volunteers can get out in the tall-grass prairie with park rangers from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. to help take care of this important cultural site. You can choose between planting native seeds, collecting native seeds that we will replant next year, or removing invasive species that crowd out the native plants. No experience is necessary and all the tools needed will be provided - dress in layers and sturdy shoes (gloves will be available, but feel free to bring your own as well).Volunteers will received a complimentary lunch at 11 a.m. and a token of thanks from the park. Please RSVP so we know how much food to order by either calling 07-825-5464 ext. 214 or emailing at pipe_interpretation@nps.gov.

Youth Mentor Hunt
16th Annual Youth Mentor Hunt hosted by Pipestone County Pheasants Forever. In addition to a mentor-led pheasant hunt, youth will be taught gun safety, hunting etiquette, and the importance of conservation and wildlife habitat.
Fall Leaf Pick-Up
First Round will begin Monday, Oct. 28 and another round will begin Monday, Nov. 4. Rake leaves to the gutter by 6:00 am Monday. One round will be made through the city each week starting on the West side of town and working towards the East.

10th Annual Trunk or Treat & Downtown Candy Walk
The Pipestone Area Chamber of Commerce invites you to Historic Downtown Pipestone for the FREE 10th Annual Trunk or Treat & Downtown Candy Walk on Thursday, October 31st, from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm. With about 1,000 kids annually, this community celebration for our area?s youth is a Pipestone Area favorite! Three blocks of Main Street will be closed for safe, family-friendly fun, candy, and music!
