The Pipestone County Museum will once again be offering a series of Family History Workshops. These workshops were offered in January 2022 and are returning by request. The workshops are designed for anyone who is interested in learning how to conduct genealogical research. All workshops will be held at the Pipestone County Museum. Workshops will begin at 11:00 a.m. for 3 consecutive Saturdays and will last approximately 60 minutes. Cost to participate is $5.00 per workshop for nonmembers and $3.00 for members of the Pipestone County Historical Society. You may choose to attend one session or all three.
Workshop 1: “Start with What You Know” This workshop will be held Saturday, October 15th and is designed to show participants how to use various family group sheets and timelines to record information already known about family members which will help identify other information they would like to know.
Workshop 2: “Utilizing Local Resources” This workshop will be held Saturday, October 22nd and will focus on how to use resources within a community such as historical societies, genealogical societies, newspapers, churches, and courthouse records to fill in missing information.
Workshop 3: “Taking it to the Web” This workshop will be held Saturday, October 29th and will concentrate on using websites such as FamilySearch.com, Ancestry.com, and FindAGrave.com to further extend the research process.
