16th Annual Youth Mentor Hunt hosted by Pipestone County Pheasants Forever. In addition to a mentor-led pheasant hunt, youth will be taught gun safety, hunting etiquette, and the importance of conservation and wildlife habitat.
Day of Activities (9:00 am - 4:00 pm):
● 9:00 am - Meet at LuAnn's Gas & More (leave for trap shooting at 9:20)
● 9:30 am - Gun Safety Presentation and Trap Shooting
● 11:30 am - Finish up Trap Shoot and leave for lunch
● 12:00 noon - Lunch provided by Pipestone County Pheasants Forever.
During lunch we will discuss hunter safety, hunting etiquette, hunting tradition & heritage, land owner/hunter relationships and land conservation and preservation.
● 1:30 - Upland Pheasant Hunt
There will be one mentor for every youth hunter in the field. Mentors don't carry a gun as they are guiding the youth on a live hunt.
● 3:30 - Return to LuAnn's Gas & More for parent pick up.
Youth 11-17 years of age.
Participants must have their DNR Hunters Safety Card.
Participants are asked to have appropriate footwear and clothing for walking and hunting in the grass. Hunters may bring their own gun if they have one.
Pheasants Forever will provide: Guns, ammo for the day, orange vests/hats, eye/ear protection and clay pigeons. Transportation is provided for the day. Parents/Grandparents/Guardians are welcome to spend the day with us for all activities. Just add your name to the volunteer form at registration.
Pre-registration and completion of Parental Release Form is required by Wed. Oct.23th.
