HPI Used Book Sale
Historic Pipestone Inc. (HPI) holds their monthly used book sale fundraiser on the first Saturday of each month from 9:00 am - approximately Noon. The sale features books in both hardcover and paperback, ranging over a variety of subjects in both fiction and nonfiction. All such books are donated by members of the community.

Arts and Mentoring Project (AMP), offered a summer musical theater camp. Participants learned the foundations of musical theatre through acting workshops, fun arts activities, and music & choreography rehearsals all while creating a live theatrical production of Disney?s Frozen Jr. Performances are August 9, 10 & 11 at the beautiful Hiawatha Pageant Park; gates open at 8:00p and showtime starting at dusk (between 8:30pm & 9pm). Tickets will be available at the gate; adults $10 and $5 students. Parking will be in the grass lot above the Quarry Pond near the ticket booth. Concessions will be available. Restrooms on site. Please, bring a blanket or chair to enjoy the show. This local production of Disney's Frozen Jr. is Produced by Reggie Gorter, Directed by Jenn Sheldon, and Musically Directed by Samantha Davis. Many other artists, student interns and volunteers are behind the scenes that make this show possible. AMP's mission is to provide an arts experience dedicated to mentoring and performing. By welcoming all students we commit to guiding their character and artistic passion in a fun, disciplined environment advancing both the individual and the community. This activity is funded in part with a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board made possible by the voters of Minnesota, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

Prairie Lawn Cemetery Walking Tour
The Pipestone County Historical Society will be hosting a walking tour of Prairie Lawn Cemetery (also known as Troy Cemetery or Pox Cemetery) located at 1650 60th Ave., Pipestone, MN on Saturday, August 10th beginning at 2:00 p.m. The life stories of some of the individuals interred in this location will be shared. The cost of the tour is $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for members of the Historical Society, and free for children 12 and under. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Pipestone County Museum or at the Cemetery gate the day of the event. Directions to the cemetery are north on Highway 75 to County Road 7/151st Street, west to 60th Avenue (gravel), north for 1 and ½ miles then turn on path between two fields to reach the destination. Due to the remote location of this cemetery, guests are encouraged to bring/wear mosquito repellent.
Teen Cafe
Our next Teen Cafe is Saturday, August 10, from 7:00-8:30pm. Teens can hang out at Meinders Community Library after hours. We'll have laser tag, snacks, & more! This event is for teens grades 7-12 and the doors to the library will open at 6:50pm. the library will open at 6:50pm

The wagon train will be leaving from a farm North and West of Pipestone, MN. We will be traveling 2.5 days by wagon and on horseback. Arriving in Prairie Village (West of Madison, SD) on Friday 8/23 just in time for our yearly parade through the village.

Ride with the Monarchs on Casey Jones State Trail
Starting in Woodstock, MN at 2:00 pm, take a bicycle ride with the monarchs along the Casey Jones State Trail. The ride will start with a Ribbon Cutting at the Woodstock Casey Jones State Trailhead and end at the Pipestone Trailhead. There will be food and refreshments for registered riders. St. Leo Cemetery Symbolism Walking Tour
The Pipestone County Historical Society will be hosting its final cemetery walking tour of the 2024 season at St. Leo?s Catholic Cemetery on Saturday, September 14th at 2:00 p.m. St. Leo?s Cemetery is located on the northwest edge of Pipestone at 656 116th street. From Dar?s Pizza follow 8th Avenue north through Pipestone and around the curve to 121st street. Take 121st street north to 116th street. Turn west on 116th street to the cemetery. This tour will focus on the meaning behind the symbols carved and etched in the gravestones. The cost of the tour is $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for members of the Historical Society, and free for children 12 and under. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Pipestone County Museum or at the Cemetery gate the day of the event

National Public Lands Day - Volunteers Needed
Volunteers are needed at the Pipestone National Monument on National Public Lands Day, Saturday, Sept. 28.Volunteers can get out in the tall-grass prairie with park rangers from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. to help take care of this important cultural site. You can choose between planting native seeds, collecting native seeds that we will replant next year, or removing invasive species that crowd out the native plants. No experience is necessary and all the tools needed will be provided - dress in layers and sturdy shoes (gloves will be available, but feel free to bring your own as well).Volunteers will received a complimentary lunch at 11 a.m. and a token of thanks from the park. Please RSVP so we know how much food to order by either calling 07-825-5464 ext. 214 or emailing at pipe_interpretation@nps.gov.

Star Party
Join us for another star party at the Monument on September 28th from 8:30 to 10:00 PM! We?ll have telescopes available for close-up views of celestial objects, and we'll also offer lessons on capturing their beauty with your camera.
